A review of some results we have recently obtained for medium-light nuclei is reported, with particular stress on the nuclear properties we have studied and what we have learned from these experiments. To illustrate these features of f7/2-shell nuclei, we present some examples on rotational bands in even--even and odd--odd nuclei, backbending and band termination phenomena, intruder bands and shape coexistence and, finally, analogue bands in T = 1 mirror nuclei.
